Dora.

It’s different than all of the other names, easy to say, and seems to fit her. Tom is the one that came up with it, after a day of puppy-sitting.

Now to come up with an airplane/flight name in honor of Daddy Pilot.
“Up Up and Away” is one idea.
This evening Dora had some play time with her big sister Kady.

After Kady led Dora outside into the dark twice, we closed the dog door.
“Mine!”
It looks like they will be great friends.

Dora the explorer?
a dora bul?
Does she haz ears? LOL She’s cuuuuuuuute!
Kumali + Pilot = Qantas
I put it on Facebook, but I’ll put it here too: C-Myste Baledwr Aviatrix.
But she is adorable. Good to have a big sister to mentor her in baddogitude.
Don’t the felt floppy toys last forever? That is lucky because I can no longer find them.
Good choice. She’s lovely!
Another name suggestion: “Dora’s B-29″ (For the famous aviatrix, Dora Dougherty Strother McKeown.)
In her time as a WASP during WW II, she was one of the first two women to fly the B-29 bomber.
That’s a great suggestion, Kathy.

Same site, a bit newer: http://www.au.af.mil/au/goe/eagle_bios/1997/strother_1997.asp
Is the McKeown surname correct? See http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/flygirls/sfeature/waspsb2903.html
Yes. She was Dora Dougherty Strother and evidently married Harry McKeown.
She would have been in her 60s when she met Harry. Neat.
So cute! The brindle markings on the face look like Rip’s markings. I guess we know where Rip got them. But Dora doesn’t have the wild eyes of Rip — probably a good thing for you!
I also like the name Dora. The Child used to be really into Dora. Dora teaches Spanish, so maybe a Spanish aviation name? Avion? Or Dora the show is all about Dora going 3 places — e.g., forest, sandy desert, castle — so a trio of destination names? But maybe that’s too obscure.
Great name! Sounds like she is living up to it already.
Dora is a great name. Thinking back, didn’t your Grandpa work in aviation with HH? Spruce Goose is not quite right though. “Flying High”? ” Into the Sunset”?

Possible source for inspiration.
Thanks. Still looking for just the right thing.
I guess I didn’t mention it before, but Tom’s inspiration for the name was actually Robert Heinlein’s Dora: the spaceship/computer in Time Enough for Love. One of my favorites that needs to be re-read soon as well.
One of my problems is that “Time Enough for Love” would be a great registered name. But I’m not sure that people would “get it”. Though I am constantly surprised by the people who don’t get Huxley as the call name for “Brave New World” and have no idea who Molly Ivins was for “Free Speech”. So maybe it doesn’t matter and I’d just have another thing to explain.
