Just when you think you have rocks in your head for taking on yet another puppy . . . a sunny day comes.
Dora adores Huxley and follows him around, to his annoyance. She looks at him and thinks “big, black = mom!” And then realizes “Oops, no milk.”

Cuteness in a green beautiful princess crown.

Learning to be a dog, she takes her cues from the adults. Or in the case of Kady, from the teenager
Smaller than the flower pots.

Family rassle. No dogs were injured during this photo-shoot.

Alice makes sure that Kady doesn’t play too rough.
So, you may notice that one dog-person is missing from the pictures. Last weekend Molly went to try out living with Vicki Bockes, who has lost not only Dancer to DM but now both of her old Pems Quest and Cochise. As much as I love Molly to pieces and miss stroking her soft warm fur in my lap at night, Vicki needs her even more. If for any reason it doesn’t work out, Molly will be back. Meantime she is learning to be an only dog and taking Vicki for nice quick walks when they are staying at the condo in Portland.
I spent a few sorry days desperately missing my turd-colored chocolatey goodness princess. Especially midweek when the days looked like this:

But spring is coming, and with it new life.

CODE IS POETRY

Molly is doing what Cardigans are supposed to do. I know that desperate pain in your heart when you focus on the empty space. Then you receive a photo or an email and know the dog is not really gone, just off doing something very good for someone else.
I know that you understand what I’m going through. Again. But the tears turn to ones of joy when you realize how happy you have made someone else.
Giving Molly to Vicki was truly a great gift. I know how much you miss her.
oh my look at that amazing front on that pup by the flower pot!! *drools*
Mine!
We were hoping that doubling on Alice would make another . . . Alice. This one has the nice fat legs and round bone. She also seems to have Grandma A’s doggier head, but I’ll live with it. Fingers crossed for an Alice in black.
The litter was very consistent, and with surprisingly strong rears and good tailsets.
Who else ended up going to show homes? She’s stunning! Nice work!
If you have rocks what do I have? Maybe you shouldn’t answer that… hmmmm
Loved your Pilot x Hannah babies! Dora sure is a cutie!
And I can’t thank you enough for entrusting Molly’s care to me. But perhaps it’s more accurate to say for putting my heart in Molly’s oh-so capable paws.
Let’s see…..
Dasher is now “Flyer” and lives with Missy
Dancer is now “Delta” and lives with Catherine and Jamie
Comet is now…??Pearl??….and lives with Auntie Denise
Of course Dora was Donder/Donner
Prancer, Vixen and Blitzen all have their own happy families
Cupid….well….she’s very small and has something wrong right now, not sure if it’s an injury or not. She’s at Megan’s house for awhile and seems to be doing better now so cross our fingers.
Cupid is small but mighty! I am hopeful she will catch up with the others and go onto be a stellar pet for someone as she has the bestest personality. She has surprisingly nice round bone and fat little feetsies despite her small size…
I’m so sorry to hear of Vickie’s loss!!! Thank you for sharing Molly with her and doing so much for all the rest of our hearts!!!
Please Hug Molly for me… and thank you for loving her. I miss her.
Hang in there Tom. I know she is very special to you. Dora looks like she may be willing to learn to fill the empty spot.
I hug her every day for you and Carolyn and tell her how much you love her to have let her come live with me. Neither one of us will ever forget the incredible gift you’ve given me.
So cute! Love the green princess crown. Have you decided on a registered name for Dora yet? Also love the photos of your landscape. Just beautiful. And even the snowy days was lovely. Nothing like Oregon! Can’t wait till I get there. Oh: I’ll be in Portland area so maybe I can meet Vicki and Molly! So wonderful to have new dog friends in the future waiting for me. Makes it easier to leave Vermont.
Some day I expect to be closer to Portland myself. Ourselves. But in the winter I am going to opt for snowbird status. About 5 more years for the day job first. I think. Some days.
You are a very good egg, Carolyn. You’ve racked up a lot of good karma points, supplying dogs to the dogless and forlorn. Congratulations on Dora – great name and so very cute.
Perhaps we will run into Molly.
