And the Winner is

Good morning, Rosie!

Let us introduce you to Grandma and to Aunt Molly.

The pups are 11 days old today.  I guess this is right on schedule: more of the litters have been born around day 60 from breeding and open their eyes at day 14.  This litter was born at day 64 from the first breeding, 62 from the second.

Hannah’s world is about to change.

Speaking of Hannah, she is being a terrific mother this time around.  She keeps the puppies fastidiously clean and protects them from the other dogs and from the c*ts.  She’s fine with people visiting, but she seems sure that the other girls want to steal her beautiful babies.  And everybody knows that the c*ts bring in puppy-sized kill regularly.

More Hannah

Actually, lots more Hannah.

The pictures yesterday did not give true credit to her great and wondrous girth, as she was laying on the puppies.  So without further ado:

“Why doesn’t my big sister want to play anymore?”

“Oh well, she still makes a good pillow.”

“You wouldn’t feel like standing up if you had all of these puppies in you, either.”

Note the grandma dog in the background in her customary morning position.

Happy Mothers Day

And here are some Happy Mothers and Happy Mothers-to-be:

Alice and her daughter Hannah

At six-weeks, Hannah is getting to the stage of “trundling”.

About that whole “ballooning” thing . . .

Sisters sharing in the good smells.

The turd-colored chocolaty-good girls enjoying the spring sun.  Which has been sorely lacking so far this year.

Love Road Trips

Yep, I do.  So does Huxley when it’s a Road Trip for Love.

Cascade Sunrise.

Native fishing platforms on the Deschutes.

After picking up Whoops in Arlington, we spent the afternoon and night with Gary & Louise in Dufur.  Three people, eight Cardigans, some bottles of wine . . .

And great: now I not only have puppy fever, I also have a longing to have a baby lamb or three.  There are twins who are going to need bottle-feeding as their mom has mastitis.  I didn’t figure it would be a good idea to take lambs to work.

A row of Cardigans.

Molly was fascinated by Logan the kitten.  Logan was not so enamored of Molly.  One of them was afraid of the other.  Hint: it wasn’t the kitten who was intimidated.

Mirrhi should be four weeks pregnant with Huxley puppies.  We can’t tell for sure, but it looks and feels like there’s a  “baby bump” there, and she thinks she is expecting.
