Other champions and dogs of note:
Am GCH/Can CH C-Myste Baledwr Pursuit of Happiness CD HXAs RN TT VCX ROMb x x Leidy (Stratus x Quizy)
Smooch is owned by DeAnn Nelson of Richland, WA. She is pursuing a career in herding, agility, and obedience.
The pretty red girl is our “keeper” from the litter. She lives with Penni, who vows that she will get that second major to finish her championship.
Hiro (Japanese for “One”) is the first from our second Wally/Hannah litter to finish his championship and the first dog ever for our daughter-in-law Catherine. Just two years of age, watch for Hiro to make his debut in the best of breed ring soon.
Am GCH/Can CH C-Myste Baledwr Pursuit of Happiness CD HXAs RN TT VCX ROMb x CH Windshyre Stormy Weather
Holmes was Chase’s first champion and Phoebe’s fourth. Penni Adrian whelped and raised Phoebe’s final litter in Albuquerque and Holmes was her keeper (but I have the privilege of co-owning him). Holmes has now finished is Grandchampionship and is competing in performance events with his new owner Anne Kowalczyk.
Owned and loved by our dear friend Alden Murray in Napa, CA.
Owned and co-bred by Léo Washburn (and she did all of the work), Rogue is Léo’s first bred-by champion. I don’t think that I’m entirely prejudiced when I tell you that Rogue is one of the prettiest Cardigan girls I know. You can visit Rogue on the Toreth blog.
Captain is owned by Trenton and Denise Sponsler of Vallejo. He is our second Grand Champion, currently working on his bronze-level award.. Visit Captain and his “sister” Malibu on Trenton’s blog.
This striking “pink” or clear red “ee” merle boy was a surprise for Megan when he was born. We had not considered the possibility that both Wally and Hannah carried the recessive. Sage lives in the bay area with Kathy Miller and Moe Rubinzahl and sister/cousin Denali
Visit Sage and Denali on Kathy’s blog.
Pilot is our current star. Shown above at the CWCCA National Specialty, April 2011. Mandy and I co-own Pilot, and he lives with Mandy when he is not with his handler Dixie.
Chase was the only pup we have ever bred to manage not one but two 5-point majors in a single day, combined with a breed over specials and a group placement. He finished his championship from the puppy classes before he was 10 months old.
He has completed his Advanced Herding title, is trialing for his Herding Championship points, and has begun his Agility career. In 2011 he was also Best Brindle Dog at the Megan competition at our national specialty.
Libby went to live with her dad Hunter at Shelley’s house in Ontario. Above she is shown with Carolyn and Shelley at the CWCCA 2009 national specialty, where she was second in the 12-18 bitch class.
You can visit her and her family on Shelley’s blog.
Hannah is one of four champions from our TM x Alice litter and the second from Bred-by Exhibitor. She lives with Mandy in Spokane.
Digger was the first to finish out of our TM x Alice litter. Alas his hips did not pass and he was with Geraldine Rivera and her husband Bill Deaton in Albuquerque, NM. Sadly he was lost to rock-eating in July of 2010.
Mirrhi is co-owned by and lives with my good friend Louise Sargent of Wolfrun Cardis in Dufur, OR.
Galen belongs to Elfie Payne of Lockford, CA. Galen was exclusively handled to his championship by Elfie, including three majors.
Picture by Mari Aalto, May 2007.
Jasmine lives with her owner Brittany Juarez in Washington. Read more about her on Brittany’s blog at corgicorner.blogspot.com.
Kayla started life as “my girl” and had 5 points out of Bred-by exhibitor as a puppy. Unfortunately when Alice came to live with us, the two disagreed about who would be my number one. So Kayla went to live with – and be co-owned with – Léo-Cadie Washburn.
After a hiatus from the ring, Kayla came back in grand fashion. She was WB for a 5-point major at the supported entry in Richland, WA September of 2008. She then followed it up with 3 more majors in two weekends in November, 2008.
She had one litter for Léo which was sired by my Huxley, and is now in a retirement home in Washington.
Gracie is owned, loved, and especially trained by Marge Frear of Albany, OR. She was first place in Novice B at the 2007 National Specialty.
Gracie is a “pink” or “ee/clear red” Cardigan, but is the product of a brindle x brindle breeding. Some pinks become red as they mature, but Gracie has stayed a pale cream.
Wally is a multiple breed winner and a group placer. He is now living with Jenny and Bill Mscichowski in Portland.
Visit Wally’s web page.
Golem AKA Gogo belongs to Kate Roberson.
Update 08/11 – Gogo is now living in Nevada City, CA with Ruth Mary and his niece Opal
This pretty blue girl is owned by Roni Haga of Boring OR and is competing with her “sister”, Sadie Sue, in teacup agility.
The repeat breeding of Carbon x Phoebe created a tri girl matching her mama. Visit Sedona on Traci’s blog.
Ch Trustnluk Baledwr x C-Myste Girl’s Night Out
Finishing a red Cardigan can be difficult, as alluded to by Ethan’s registered name. Imagine if the red Cardigan is your first show dog ever!
Ethan’s dam was Zoe, a tri-colored girl who was a litter sister to Alvin. Zoe was co-owned by Marilyn Zuber of Shedd, OR and she whelped and raised this litter.
Ethan was owned by Paul & Richelle Krotts in Eugene, OR. Sadly he was lost to IVDD in April of 2011, just short of his seventh birthday.
Ch Talbot’s Trooping the Colors x Ch C-Myste Bahama Mama
Kota belongs to Traci Genaw, currently living in Queen Creek AZ.
Charles is owned and trained by Joan Mayerle of California.
Denali is owned and loved by Kathy and Mo in California. She is the second of our dogs they have had. The much-loved Kenai (Juneau x Bridget) was the first. Mo and Kathy also have Kady’s brother Sage from the tree litter (Wally x Hannah one).
Visit Denali and family at 4 the Dogz.
Ch D-Cross Rhain CDX PT x Ch C-Myste Trustnluk Hugs’n Kisses
Stratus lives in Portland with Russ and Tina Rainforth, where he is a housemate to his cousin Gryff (C-Myste Baledwr Good Grief).
Tyner was originally “Niner” co-owned and finished by Tiffani Garner. He is now owned and loved by Esther Nicholls in Glide, OR.
I love this dog, but I am happy to now share her with Penni Adrian of Albuquerque, NM. Inca is a therapy dog registered with Therapy Dogs Inc.
You can visit Inca on Penni’s blog.
Megan: too small to be a great show dog but never too small to show the sheep who’s who. Unfortunately Megan is one of 4 puppies in the litter who has had problems with IVDD. She is now retired from the stock ring.
Denzil is one of those border-collie-wanna-be Cardigans. He is as high-drive as his litter sisters.
Owned by Lani & Pete Fry currently of Iowa, Denzil is now retired and living with Lani’s parents in Washington state.
Ch Spectrum’s Harlem Shuffle x Ch Heart of Gold Trix R For Kids
Quizzy: a sparky little girl who imparted her joie d’vivre to her children. Unfortunately she had a uterine infection shortly after the birth of her first and only litter and had to be spayed. Her retirement home was with Dr Mary Burry & family in Portland, OR.
Kimi-Willow was tragically lost to kidney failure in 2007. She was owned and loved by Megan & Josh Hanselman and by Mandy.
Visit her memorial site.
Sadie Sue is a certified therapy dog as well as being a Teacup Agility Chamion. She is also competing in USDAA agility. Sadie is owned by Roni Haga of Boring, OR.
See Sadie Sue on the TDAA website.
Ch Spectrum’s Harlem Shuffle x Ch C-Myste Shepherds Moon
Alvin is reportedly as great a dog as is his mom Kacy. He lives in Great Falls, MT and is owned Belinda Sadler.
Now retired, Zach was originally owned and titled by Jeri Lamy.
Visit Zach’s web page.
Ch Chaps Woodsy Brooks x Ch Davenitch Cassiopia of Chaps
Marcy wasis a cute little girl who did not appreciate being a mother. She had a single litter of two surviving puppies, one of who was Ch Baledwr Almost Famous.
Marcy’s true goal in life was to be a cute little pet, so Mandy traded Tavia Ewen co-ownership of Marcy for co-ownership of Phoebe.
Ch Davenitch Garth o’Chaps x Ch Spyrock Coal Miners Daughter
I can’t tell you how proud I am of Maggie and her accomplishments. Maggie and Denzil live in Davenport, IA with Lani and Pete Fry.
Emmy is owned and trained by Phil Dein, formerly of Pleasanton CA and now in Ruidoso, NM.
Visit Emmy’s web site.
Formerly co-owned with Mary DiBlasi, who finished his championship Quincy now lives in Washington.
Ch C-Myste Nobody’s Fool x C-Myste Celtic Druid
Baha is the dam of Ch C-Myste Dakota RA CGC, of C-Myste Durango CD RN PT, and of C-Myste Denali RE CGC. She is owned and loved by Karen Hake.
Riley is perhaps the most famous of our pups. He is owned and fabulously trained by Kristine Gunter of Portland, OR.
Flirt was one of our early stars. She finished easily, had several best of breeds, and was 1st in her sweepstakes class at the 2000 nationals in Lancaster, PA. She was the dam of Ch C-Myste Baledwr Eskimo Kiss.
Krissy was originally co-owned by Carol Olson, but she moved back to Oregon to finish. She had two litters and retired to nearby Rogue River.
Bilbo is the special friend of Louise Sargent, Wolfrun Cardis in Dufur, OR.
Ch Phi-Vestavia Inkling x Ch Phi-Vestavia Embers of Xtacee
While we did not finish Klark’s championship I am including his picture as so many people have his descendants. He had strong virtues which we needed to add, especially head, scope, tailset, and angles.
He did not care for the whole dog-show experience.
Klark retired and lived to a gold old age with Jenny and Bill in Portland, OR
Fearna lived with Julie Bell & family in the Seattle area. We elected not to breed her when she did not pass OFA. She was in heat when the x-rays were done, and at times I kicked myself that we didn’t resubmit them.
Duncan is owned by Alden Murray of Napa, CA. He is the sire of Ch C-Myste Bahama Mama and of C-Myste Kamikaze, multi-titled performance dog and tv celebrity. Duncan finished his championship out of the puppy classes in just a few weekends of showing.
Juneau was our first special and our first real tragedy. He went down in the back at the height of his career, on New Years’ weekend when he was just short of 5 years old. After surgery, he lived for another 2.5 years before we lost him to a further degeneration in August of 2003.
I learned many things from Juneau, some of which I would have preferred not to know.
Juneau in his cart at the 2003 CWCCA National Specialty
Tess was the original “keeper” from our first litter. She finished her championship quickly and easily, including placements over specials. Her single litter to Phi-Vestavia Kallel gave us three champions and a legacy to build on.
Tess’s special talents included climbing trees and fences. She retired to a home in Portland with a tall fence.
Litter sister of Tess, Kacy, Dru, and Hughie. After finishing her championship and coming home, Wendy went to live in an only-dog household in Medford.
Kacy was a sweet old girl who loved to go walkabout. We lost her at the age of 13 in September of 2009.
Visit Kacy’s web page.
Hughie belonged to and was loved by Ron & Kathleen Stewart, Vancouver BC.
Visit Hugie’s web page.
Ch Coedwig’s Carbon Blue x Ch Sisterwood’s Stark’n Dark
Born on Halloween, of course. Salem finished her championship in Alaska, co-owned by Carol Olson.
She is the dam of Ch Trustnluk Baledwr and Ch Trustnluk Baledwr Midnight Sun.
Phi-Vestavia Storms A Brewin x Ch Sisterwood’s Witchy Woman
Deputy is owned and loved by Sarah and John Kimball of Coquille, OR. You can contact Sarah at email@example.com.
Deputy’s sire Brewski was from the Hunter x Gloria litter. He was tragically poisoned before he finished.
Deputy is the sire of Ch C-Myste Mission Impossible, Ch C-Myste Kahlun’n Cream, and of C-Myste Christmas Créme CD.
C-Myste Night Vision x Ch Sisterwood’s Witchy Woman
Skye was the cutest blue puppy I’ve ever seen. His sire is Elvis, a major-pointed blue dog from our Elmo x Kacy litter. Skye lived with Léo-Cadie Washburn and family in Brush Prairie, WA. You can follow his exploits at http://moriocardigans.blogspot.com/.
Skye went missing in May of 2008. I still hold some hope that someone took him in and he will show up again.
Skye’s sire Elvis: C-Myste Night Vision
Ch Phi-Vestavia Blue Juniper x Spyrock Somethin’ to Consider
Spencer is a brindle-pointed black who is owned by Susan Bemus in Missouri.
His dam Cindy is a full sister to Julie and a litter sister to Ch Spyrock All Things Considered (Connor) who lives with Nancy Moncrieff in Carson City, NV.
Ch Gorthleck Blackthorn x Dixie My Alabama Gal, HI
Julie left us 01/02/09 at the age of 15. We will keep her in our memories forever.
Visit Julie’s webpage.
