I’ve been asked several times if Mayzie had her puppies. The answer is yes: on Sunday the 24th. This was her third (and final) litter and the only one delivered by c-section.
And the reason? Mayzie has twins. There were two puppies in a single sack: both boys, one weighing 10 oz and the other 4 oz. They could not be delivered vaginally. For novice breeder, the difference in size would be due to the more- and less-advantageous placement of the placenta for each pup.
In total there are 4 boys and 4 girls. Except for the mini-me, the weights were generally in the 8- to 10-oz range. All are reds or sables, which we knew because Shaniko does not carry black.
