Dog and Cardigan Related History
In the 1970’s I owned two Shelties and trained in obedience. I put dog sports on hold while we started a family, moved to Oregon, and opened our business. I resumed when our daughter reached 4H age in the mid 1980’s. We had an Australian Shepherd who I titled in obedience, agility, herding, and tracking and who was major pointed. We have also owned and titled Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Swedish Vallhunds, and Ibizan hounds.
My first Cardigan, born in 1993 and acquired early in 1994, was CH Spyrock Coal Miners Daughter CGC NAC ROMs. I have also been fortunate to co-own and whelp and raise litters from CH Windshyre Stormy Weather ROMb and CH Mariel Reese’s Alice Springs ROMs. Alice was a group placer in her own right as well as Best Brood Bitch and First Award of Merit at the CWCCA National Specialty in 2009.
I have personally finished many dogs and have bred or co-bred some 50 champions and/or performance-titled dogs. Our star is MBISS GCH Can CH C-Myste Baledwr Free to Disagree HT, a multiple group winner who was Best of Breed at Westminster KC in 2012.
I have attended and exhibited at many regional and national specialties and have shown at Westminster and at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. I have also judged Sweepstakes at several CWCCA supported entries and over the years have judged many B and OB matches. I attended the AKC Judges Institute in 2003.

Personal Data
I have been married to my husband and business partner Tom since 1971. Daughter Mandy Katasse (Baledwr) lives in the Spokane/Couer d’Alene area and son Jamie and daughter-in-law Catherine Cannon live in Molalla Oregon. Jamie and Catherine were joined by our first grandchild on January 21st.
I took a “temporary job” for medical insurance and benefits in 1993 and ended up staying for 20 years. I retired from that position at the end of 2013. I offer this as a demonstration of my dedication and loyalty.
Through the benefit of modern technology we are able to support our ASI clients from anywhere. In 2014 we rented our Southern Oregon house and acreage to our niece and her family and hit the road in our Motorhome. We now travel full-time with three Cardigans and have introduced many people to our wonderful breed.
I have many ideas for changes and improvements in several areas particularly in communication between the board and club members. I hope to continue to assist the treasurer in her duties and help put together more timely reports to be published on the website. I believe that all members should have a voice in club policies and know what is going on at all times. As we travel I plan to visit shows across the country and members will be able to voice their concerns to me face-to-face.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and I am open to discussion on any issue.
